MISSION & VISION
BACK TO YOU is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are a diverse, inclusive, and accessible learning community with a mission to use STORYTELLING to empower children, youth, and their support systems to heal from developmental and generational trauma.
We provide the social-emotional tools you need to turn Back To You and trust the wisdom of your body. When we combine this awareness with connection, we believe we will also improve our capacity to extend compassion back to the world around us.
We envision a world in which everyone’s stories are told and every person feels seen, welcomed, and valued. We truly believe that by making these SEL tools more accessible, we’ll be able to increase our community’s emotional literacy and allow for more space for these stories and experiences to be heard.
SERVICES
All of our programs have been created and implemented in a way that brings us closer to our vision of a world in which everyone’s stories are told and every person feels seen, welcomed, and valued. We truly believe that by making Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tools more accessible, we’ll be able to increase our community’s emotional literacy and allow for more space for everyone’s stories and experiences to be heard.
THE BACK TO YOU FUND is our community fund that exists to provide financial support for individuals to receive what they need to heal, to feel safe and secure, and to have their accessibility needs met. This can include anything from therapy and healing practices, basic needs such as food or housing, mobility aids and other medical devices. You can apply for assistance for yourself or to nominate someone who needs it!
STORY BASKETS are free Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Kits filled with books, self-care, and other physical and mental wellness tools for neurodivergent and disabled folks of all ages and their support systems (parents, teachers, therapists, etc.) The tools and practices shared in these baskets are intended to aid in allowing the recipient(s) to connect to their own stories in order to feel seen, validated, and accepted. You can request a basket for yourself or nominate a person or community in need!
THE RAINBOW CONNECTION is a virtual peer support group specifically for LGBTQIA+ folks. In these support group sessions, we will discover more about the intersectionality of our individual identities to better understand how our struggles as well as our joys are all connected. We will also explore what it means to lean into an embodied social justice approach in our educational and advocacy efforts and how it can be helpful in all forms of liberation activism.
